The right to one’s own body

This argument is related to an important stance for human rights defenders. However, the problem in prostitution situations is that this right is no longer in the hands of the person selling sex. In the majority of all sex purchase situations, the power and control are in the hands of the buyer. Many sex buyers do not perceive themselves as simply “buying” a “service,” such as vaginal sex, but instead consider themselves as buying a person with whom they can do as they choose, who is in their control, and whom they can sometimes even humiliate. The sex buyer is paying for the right of access to someone else’s body.
